Motion Controlled Microscope

Another unique piece of equipment built by Pirate for creating video versions of photomicrographs. A standard microscope has been fitted with three motion controlled stepper motors, which drive focus and X & Y stage movements. Fitted with a reflexed eyepiece, enables look-through whilst setting up our standard broadcast video or 16mm camera. As well as natural history uses, the microscope can be used to shoot novel graphic elements. A superb resource for ideas and inspiration is Florida State University's Molecular Expressions collection, covering such topics as beer, ice cream, integrated circuits and superconductors.
